Important 21-days Conditioning Tips
21 days conditioning
Before doing the following 21 days conditioning, it is highly suggested that the gamefowls you are going to condition has been through at least 2 weeks of preconditioning and has followed a correct program of Maintenance Phase.
It is also recommended that before doing the 21 days conditioning, the roosters should have been dewormed, deloused and injected with Vitamin B-complex
Rotation Method
For the rotation method, the more facilities you have, the better so your rooster can be rotated to different areas. The type of training for rotation method is natural. Meaning your roosters will train themselves without the handler's guidance or assistance. The rotation method consist of putting your roosters to different areas on your backyard farm or gamefarm. It consists of moving your chickens from scratch pen, flying pen, cord area. Handlers should rotate each gamefowl on different area every 2-3 hours. This way, they will not get bored and continuously become active and workout themselves during the process.
Sparring
Some might say that the program below has too many sparring sessions. But if you observed closely, it will only be 2-3 buckles. No matter if the roosters hit each other or not, within 2-3 buckles, the sparring should be stopped. It is also suggested to let them spar without gloves as this will teach them that they can get hurt if they do not play wisely and dodge, and if they feel the pain, their instincts will tell them to hit even harder. Another benefit of not using gloves is you can assess whether if their attacks are landing on the opponents body. This can be observed through feathers left on the rooster's spur or tahid.
Kahig Sampi at Pakaskas
Another important workout for our roosters are the kahig sampi and pakaskas. Kahig sampi is not only a physical training but can also be considered as mental conditioning. We are teaching our gamefowl to throw their feet while extending their legs when they meet their opponent on the air. Pakaskas or scratch exercise on the otherhand helps build the strength they need to deliver powerful blows. These exercises should be done moderately, meaning 10-15 minutes only to prevent excessive workout that may lead to roosters getting muscle bound.
Keeping/Resting
The last 3 days of the 21 days conditioning is very crucial. We have exhausted and trained our gamefowl's physically and it is very important for them to get enough rest before their fights. The amount of rest can vary between 2-3 days depending on how much workout you give your roosters. But the minimum is 2 days. There are also debates as to where should roosters rest at night. Whether you want them to sleep in the cord area or resting stalls it does not matter as long as they get a good and undisturbed night rest. It is also in this times where we need to observant on our gamefowl's water intake. Generally, if in the last 3 days and your gamefowl is still drinking like a thirsty cow, then it might be an indication that they are not feeling well and their body is lacking moisture. A good indication is your roosters will only drink 2-4 dips of water 1 day before the fight.
Multivitamins tablet
As much as possible, the multivitamins we want to give our rooster during conditioning should already be administered to them during preconditioning. We don't want to suddenly change the vitamins that our roosters are used to. There are many different options as to what multivitamins we should give our gamefowl. Some options include Voltplex KQ, Promotor 43, El Toro, Red Gel Forte, Alpha One, VitminPro. These multivitamins can also be used alternately to have a wider range of vitamins given to chickens. The choice depends on the observation of the handler.
B-Complex Injectables
The choice of B-Complex or other injectables depends on the handler and cocker. But the same as multivitamins, the one that is familiar to the roosters is the one you need to use during conditioning. There are many tested and proven injectables that provide the necessary nutrients needed by our roosters. It may be Belamyl, Bully Boy, Gold Medallion, Stallion and many more. Again, the choice is based on the handler and cocker's choice. If you already have something that is working and produce good fighting results, then you may continue to use it.
Pointing Drops
Our pointing drops are not only used to give extra energy and nutrients to our gamefowl. Notice that we are giving them drops 1-2 hours before every sparring and 1-2 hours before the fight. This routine sets our gamefowl's mind that whenever they are given this products, they will enter battle in a few moments. During fight day, they only not get the boost they need but also conditions their mind that there will be blood bath after 1-2 hours. It is an important part of their mental conditioning. Some of the common choices are Reload plus, Powerpoint Cobra and Dragon Driver. The same as the multivitamins and injectables, use the one that is familiar to your roosters.
Carboloading
Carboloading is done 3 days before the fight. The very concept of carboloading is to increase the amount of carbohydrates in our rooster's feed. Most often, carboloading ratio is 60:40. Where 60 percent is grains which mostly contains golden cracked corn and 40 percent conditioning pellet. Remember that the key is to increase the carbs which will then be converted to the energy that our gamefowls need during fight day.
Lastly, if you have done the 21 days conditioning properly, you will be able to point your roosters easily. You can follow the guide on Pointing for the things you need to do on fight day.
